The Severn Teaching School Alliance is committed to ensuring that the School to School Support programme meets the unique needs of our schools and sustains a school driven self improvement model. The Alliance is unique in having its own team of 8 school improvement advisers who have a track record of being successful head teachers of good or outstanding schools. These advisers are deployed into both subscribing and non subscribing schools and carry out a range of functions including building leadership capacity at all levels, supporting effective school self evaluation and review, carrying out pupil premium reviews, governor training and a whole host of other activities depending on the needs of the setting. In 2018/19 49 schools within the borough subscribed to a package of support which includes at least termly visits. Our team are also deployed in Shropshire, Dudley and Birmingham schools.
The Alliance aims to work in partnership with a range of stakeholders to deliver high quality school to school support. These partners include Consultants, Specialist Leaders of Education, Local Leaders of Education, Professional Partners and Head Teacher Mentors. We also maintain links with Local Authority Officers to try to provide a cohesive and aligned service.
Quality Assurance
The teaching school has robust mechanisms in place to ensure that it continually delivers a high quality service. This includes an annual evaluation of the range of services and functions of the team. We are proud that there is a trend of these services being consistently rated good and outstanding by our client base.
Specialist Leaders of Education/Specialist Teachers
We have established extensive cross school networking to continually improve the overall effectiveness of our family of schools, both within and beyond Telford & Wrekin. We do this by systematically deploying a highly skilled team of over 40 Specialist Leaders of Education (SLEs) and Specialist Teachers (STs). These SLE’s and STs have a wide range of specialisms, including English, Maths, EYFS, EAL, SEND, Complex Needs, Assessment and Science. They access high quality training on a termly basis and follow rigorous protocols to ensure that their work is bespoke to the needs of a school and is of a high quality.
Any Head that requires the support of an STSA team member should first approach the Severn Teaching School Alliance, using the confidential enquiry form below.
The Severn Teaching School Alliance is committed to ensuring that the School to School Support programme serves the contextualised need of our locality and contributes to a school driven self improvement model.
