Course Outline:

Telford and Wrekin primary schools already have an excellent resource to support the teaching of the local agreed syllabus developed by Lat Blaylock in the form of a CD. However, with any resource produced for a wide audience, it may not necessarily be directly appropriate for use by you, the class teacher, in your classroom with your children. Many teachers will need to adapt the materials to get the best out of them in your particular situation.

This course will draw on national guidance material and resources to explore progression and expectations in RE across the primary years and will equip delegates with the information to adapt any materials to suit their needs. We will work with examples drawn from the Lat Blaylock CD which should be familiar abut also look at other resources and materials.

At the end of the course delegates will have a clearer understanding of how children get better at RE and how this information can be used to adapt teaching materials to suit your own individual circumstances. In addition, delegates will understand the expectations at the end of key stage 1, key stage 2 and also end of year 4 to inform them of the progress children are making in RE. We will also explore a range of teaching ideas and outcomes from children to discuss and exemplify these expectations.
