Course Outline:

Teaching Assistants working alongside teachers have contributed to significant improvements in the quality of teaching and learning and the effective functioning of their schools. For Teaching Assistants who have become increasingly involved in the teaching of small groups and the delivery of intervention sessions this course will:

•          support them in asking key questions to accelerate progress and deepen understanding.

•          provide guidance on the use of more open ended questions to support assessments of children’s learning.

Course outcomes:

  • Improved skills in asking children questions.
  • A greater understanding of how to assess pupil progress.
