Course Content:

  • To have a clear understanding of how the statutory duties on schools are met as a result of having a safeguarding board for children
  • To have a clear plan of how schools can work with staff, pupils, parents and governors to establish a safeguarding board for pupils
  • To give pupils the knowledge and skills they need to keep themselves safe
  • To give staff the confidence to tackle all forms of abuse in a supportive manner
  • To understand the current legislation that supports and underpins the philosophy for having a safeguarding board for students
  • To enable pupils to protects themselves from all forms of Child Sexual Exploitation
  • To have access to a range of resources to establish a safeguarding board for children

Course outcomes:

  • Staff will have the confidence and a clear plan of how to establish a safeguarding board for children
  • Staff will be able to join a termly network meeting with schools who have a safeguarding board for children
  • Schools who establish a board will have a member of the Local Children’s Safeguarding Board to support them
